Privacy Policy

EasyJobs Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the Australian registered business name that operates EasyJobs, an online job board and hiring platform for Australian employers and job seekers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information, and how you can exercise your privacy rights.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and (where relevant) the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) for electronic marketing. This policy is general information about our practices and is not legal advice.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information we handle about:

2. What personal information we collect

Depending on how you use EasyJobs, we may collect:

Employers / account holders

Candidates / applicants

Technical and usage information

We aim to collect only information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities (APP 3). Sensitive information is generally not required. Please do not include health, political, religious, biometric, or other sensitive details unless a role lawfully requires it and you choose to provide it.

3. How we collect information

We collect personal information:

If you provide someone else’s personal information (for example a colleague’s contact email), you must have authority to do so and ensure they are aware this policy may apply.

4. Why we collect and use personal information

We use personal information to:

We do not sell personal information. Candidate applications are shared with the employer who owns the job so they can consider you for that role.

5. Disclosure of personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

Some service providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps consistent with APP 8, including contractual and practical safeguards appropriate to the risk.

6. Job advertising and public information

Job ads you publish may be publicly available on EasyJobs and may be syndicated to third-party job aggregators or search engines. Public job pages typically include role details, location, employer display name, and related hiring information you choose to publish. Do not include personal contact details in a job ad unless you intend them to be public.

7. Marketing communications

If you opt in to marketing, we may send product updates and promotional emails. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time via your account marketing preferences or the unsubscribe link in the email. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential service messages about your account or applications.

8. Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure (APP 11). This includes access controls, encrypted transport where appropriate, and limiting staff/system access to what is needed to run the service.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you believe your account or an application has been compromised, contact us promptly.

9. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law or legitimate business record-keeping (for example account history, dispute resolution, and security logs). When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

10. Access, correction, and your rights

Under the Privacy Act, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and request correction of information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading (APPs 12 and 13). You may also ask us to delete personal information we no longer need to keep.

Employer account holders can self-serve these rights in Account → Your data:

When an employer deletes their account, we delete personal information and identifiable business records associated with that account. We may retain de-identified platform insights derived from that activity (for example counts of jobs posted, applications by source channel, industry, and location state) so we can understand product performance without identifying you. These insights do not include names, emails, ABNs, candidate contact details, or other identifiers.

Candidates who applied without a EasyJobs account can request access, correction, or deletion of application data by contacting us (and may also contact the relevant employer about their recruitment process).

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. In limited cases we may refuse a request where the Privacy Act allows; if so, we will explain the reasons and available complaint options where practicable.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for login sessions, security, and core site function. We may also use limited analytics to understand how the product is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect sign-in or other features.

12. Children

EasyJobs is intended for employers and job seekers who are legally able to work and enter contracts in Australia. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the purpose of creating employer accounts.

13. Complaints
